Ghanaians must have a UAE visa approved before travel — there is no visa on arrival, even with a US or UK visa. The process is straightforward online: apply at icp.gov.ae or through a sponsor 5–7 days before your trip.

Insider Tips
Visit icp.gov.ae and select 'Visa Services' then 'Tourist Visa'. Create an account or log in if you have one.
Enter your personal details exactly as they appear on your Ghanaian passport. Select 'Ghana' as your nationality and 'Tourist' as the visa purpose.
Upload scanned copies of your passport bio-data page, passport photograph, return ticket itinerary, and hotel booking confirmation.
Pay the ~$90 (GHS 1,035) fee online using a Visa or Mastercard. Note: some Ghanaian cards may have issues — use a USD-denominated card or Ghana-issued international card.
Processing typically takes 3–5 working days. You will receive an email with your approved e-visa PDF. Check your spam folder if you do not receive it.
Print your e-visa approval and carry it with you. Present it at check-in and at UAE immigration on arrival. The visa is electronically linked to your passport.
No published rejection rate. The UAE publishes no visa refusal statistics by applicant nationality. Checked August 2026.
No UAE visa-on-arrival route for Ghanaian passports
ICP's entry visa for travellers holding a US, UK or EU visa or residence permit is limited to nationals of India and, since 25 June 2026, Kenya, Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, the Philippines and South Africa. Ghana is not on the list, so a Western visa does not change anything for Ghanaian travellers. This page previously implied otherwise, and also said Nigerians get visa on arrival — they do not.
